Instructor: Dale "Cougar" Armstrong
Besides being a diehard rockhound and a lapidary, Dale “Cougar” Armstrong is an internationally known wire jewelry artist, instructor and author with a background in the fine arts, cloisonné and repoussé. With more than 40 years of combined experience, she uses absolutely no solder or glue in her traditional wire jewelry designs, and teaches how at related events in North America, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and Switzerland. Best known for making her thorough teaching style fun, Dale is the author of numerous magazine and Internet articles, and the bestselling book, “Wirework: An Illustrated Guide to the Art of Wire Wrapping”. She has also made more than 50 educational DVDs, is a member of the Beadalon Design Team, and a live product presenter on Jewelry Television, and has her own line of “Cougar’s Choice” hand tools. Learn to handcraft individual prongs and set a faceted stone into a classic style ring. Several design possibilities will be shown and explained. Learn how to properly size this ring for a perfect fit about every time. Each student will make two settings, almost guaranteeing that they will wear one ring out of class! Class discussions will include: choosing the right stone for the right ring style and finger size; how to use ring sizers and mandrels that do not match; pricing your work for profit and more.
The workshop fee includes teacher’s fee, all necessary silver wire for 2 rings, choice of one faceted stone, and written follow-up instructions. (14k gold-filled wire will be available for an additional fee in class.) How to sign-up for class: Please register and pay for class on-line at:
