Merilou has been a practicing artist and teacher for over 40 years as well as a professional craftsman and jewelry designer who has been selected as an “Illustrious Artist” in addition to being the recipient of numerous awards at art shows and national competitions. Her work has been featured in professional catalogs, magazines and on the covers of national publications. She has a B.A. in Art, an M.A. in Art History as well as a Juris Doctorate. She has been a practicing attorney in the state of California as well as a lifetime state credentialed secondary art teacher. She is heavily involved in teaching others how to create beautiful jewelry as well as continually improving her own craft. Her current emphasis is on creating fused glass specializing in unique and elegant jewelry pieces, many of which are encased in 14K gold fill and/or sterling silver wire. The constant theme of her work has always been attention to detail, good craftsmanship and dramatic, yet elegant, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her work can be found at several higher end shows throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. She has been an exhibiting artist at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair for the past 17 years and has taught wire work aboard a Celebrity cruise ship to Alaska. Both novice and skilled wire workers will benefit from techniques learned in one of Merilou’s classes.

You make have learned how to wrap a cabochon but now you can not only wrap a drusy, which is immensely popular, but you can learn how to wrap any free form object. As an addition, you will learn how to venture into the realm of wire weaving (which is totally different than wire wrapping). The only similarity is that both techniques use wire! Learn about wire temper, wire gauges and wire shapes as well as all about the necessary tools. You will learn how to measure enough wire, how to create a bundle of wire and how to bind the bundle or wire as well as how to wire weave a bail. Class is limited to 6 so register early!
