Kumihimo is traditional Japanese braiding and the technique goes back to the time of the Samurai. You do not really need much in the way of tools to get started and I have included most all that you will need for many projects. Once you learn this technique the door is open to creating many, many pieces. . .different bracelets, necklaces, even earrings. Your kit includes a Kumihimo disc, a “big eye” needle, some binding thread, some bead stoppers, a wonderful selection of “pip” beads, seed beads, a fleece work surface and a copy of my 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions with color step by step photographs, all of which is yours to take home. Everything is provided for you in class and all you need to bring is a smile! All tools will be provided for you to use in class. Class size is limited to 6 so register early!

Yes, you can make rings! In this class, you will be guided through the process of determining the length of metal needed to produce a particular ring size including for a ring that will be textured after soldering. Using various styles of silver wire, you will create three different rings in the same size, to be worn as a set. As time allows, you will add a small cabochon in a pre-made setting to one of the rings. All steps will be carefully demonstrated and explained by an experienced and patient teacher. Skills covered in this class include cutting wire to length, using a hammer to texture the metal, filing edges, soldering, setting a cabochon, and finally polishing and finishing. Cabochon availability and pricing will vary—or you can provide your own calibrated 5 mm stone. Cost of the kit with all the components will be $45 in addition to the class fee of $95. When you leave class, you will not only have successfully made your first rings—but you will also take with you a comprehensive handout, with fully illustrated step-by-step instructions to help you get started in your home studio. Bracelets can be worn day or night, either alone or stacked together.. This is a basic class that will teach you all of the necessary steps for creating a wire wrapped piece that is a bit different. In this class you will learn about measuring and straightening the wire. You will also learn how to bundle all the wires together and hold everything in place with strategically placed wraps, how to make the clasp and how to determine bracelet sizes for small, medium and larger sized wrists. Learn about wire temper, wire gauges and wire shapes as well as all about the necessary tools. You will be working with both dead soft and half hard wire and will also learn how to twist the wire. The class fee includes both sterling silver and 14KGF wire, a jeweler’s polishing cloth, a fleece work surface and a copy of my 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions with color step by step photographs, all of which is your to take home. I supply all of the tools needed to create this project during class so all you need to do is bring a smile! All tools will be provided for you to use in class. Learn how to make simple and attractive silver earrings using just silver wire! Under the guidance of an experienced and patient teacher, you will learn every step needed from forming the wire shapes to adding a tiny jump ring as the finishing touch—no experience necessary! Skills you will learn in this class include filing, shaping, soldering, and polishing. This three-hour class will open your eyes to the possibilities of jewelry made with wire alone. Class fee is $95. All supplies, including various sizes and styles of wire and sterling silver ear wires in your choice of style, will be included in the kit fee of $65. (If you need hypoallergenic ear wires, they will also be available.) No experience required! Even though this looks extra fancy, this is a basic class and a foundation for many other types of wire wrapping. After this class you will be able to use any size cabochon to create a pendant of any size or shape of pendant. You will be able to vary your designs by adding or subtracting beads or crystals in a number of ways. I will provide many tips so you can produce a beautiful sterling silver wrapped pendant. You will also learn about wire sculpture. A black silk cord will be provided so you can proudly wear your creation home! Learn about wire temper, wire gauges and wire shapes as well as all about the necessary tools. You will learn how to measure, cut, clean and straighten your wire. You will also learn how to bundle and wrap your wire as well as how to make a bail. You will be working dead soft wire. The class fee includes sterling silver wire, a jeweler’s polishing cloth, a fleece work surface, a custom made dichroic glass cabochon, a black silk cord and a copy of my 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions with color step by step photographs, all of which is yours to take home. Learn to solder, set a faceted stone, and make and attach fine silver granules as you create this beautiful silver pendant. Silver soldering is a multi-step process, but under the guidance of an experienced and patient teacher, you will learn every step as we all create the pendant shown in the illustration—no experience necessary! Skills covered in this class include creating a granule, soldering, setting the faceted gem, and polishing and finishing. Class fee is $95.00. You will learn about the elements of design including, but not limited to, line, space and color, as well as the principles of design such as unity, balance and contrast. You will learn how to use crimps and crimp covers as well as how to create a multi-strand necklace. We will then apply these elements and principles to creating an ethnic necklace. The class fee includes all the materials necessary to create your necklace such as beading wire, gold (natural) coral, African beads, a focal pendant, miscellaneous beads and findings and a copy of my 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions with color step by step photographs, all of which is yours to take home. This pendant may look complex but the even Peyote stitch is quite simple to master and once learned is exciting and fun. You can use Peyote to make many different types of jewelry. In this workshop you will complete a beautiful pendant with a beaded bezel that you can be proud to wear home. Learn how to take a cabochon and wrap multiple rows of beads around it using various colors which will enhance and beautify your centerpiece. We will be using 6 lb Fireline, a size 12 beading needle, and size 8/0 and size 11/0 seed beads to make this lovely piece. A detailed instruction book is included which is yours to take home. Choices of pendant and bead colors vary and will be available to pick when you arrive at class. Since we are working with small beads you are encouraged to bring a magnifier light if you feel you need it for this workshop. Class is limited to 6 students so register early.

No experience needed! Learn to create unusual earrings in this introduction to the ancient Korean art of Keum-boo, where 24 kt gold is fused to fine silver and patinated to create a unique effect. Keum-boo is a simple but precise process and the instructor for this class will walk you carefully and thoroughly through the process step-by-step, as we all create earrings that are your interpretation of those shown in the illustration. Each step will be carefully demonstrated and explained, but you will be able to bring your own design ideas to the project. Skills covered in this class include depletion gilding, cutting and placing foil, fusing, and patinating the metal, and finally polishing and finishing. Silver blanks will be available in a selection of shapes, and availability may vary.
