Instructor: Francesca Watson
Francesca Watson is a designer, maker and instructor who lives and works in the Texas Hill Country outside San Antonio. In 2012, she walked away from 25 years in administration and small business management to focus on living a more creative life. She and her husband now operate The Makery, a working and teaching studio in Bulverde, Texas, where she offers workshops in metals, enamels and jewelry-making. Her passion is creating unique, wearable, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces using unusual stones, while her explorations in mixed media and photography allow her to indulge her love of paper and journals. In addition to teaching at The Makery, Francesca hosts an annual metals retreat at Sage Hill Inn in Kyle, Texas and teaches nationally at venues including BeadFest, Glass Craft Expo, Adorn Me!, and the annual Tucson Gem Shows. She is also a Level 1 Certified Art Clay Instructor.

Put a new twist on that old classic: turquoise and silver. You’ll use textured sterling silver sheet to create a unique setting for a gorgeous chunk of genuine American turquoise. You’ll frame it out with textured wire, then learn ways to add hand-made links to commercial chain for a time-saving custom look. Put it all together with a made-from-scratch clasp for a unique necklace you’ll be proud to wear!
Please note: Some prior soldering experience will be helpful but is not required if you are a confident beginner.
Absolutely everything necessary to complete the project is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise leave the big bags at home and just come and have fun! PLUS: You’ll get 90 minutes for lunch and to shop the terrificTucson Bead Show!
