WIRE SCULPTURE PENDANTJuly 28, 9:00am - 1:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Wirework Class By Merilou JenkinsMerilou has been a practicing artist and teacher for over 40 years as well as a professional craftsman and jewelry designer who has been selected as an “Illustrious Artist” in addition to being the recipient of numerous awards at art shows and national competitions. Her work has been featured in professional catalogs, magazines and on the covers of national publications. She has a B.A. in Art, an M.A. in Art History as well as a Juris Doctorate. She has been a practicing attorney in the state of California as well as a lifetime state credentialed secondary art teacher. She is heavily involved in teaching others how to create beautiful jewelry as well as continually improving her own craft. Her current emphasis is on creating fused glass specializing in unique and elegant jewelry pieces, many of which are encased in 14K gold fill and/or sterling silver wire. The constant theme of her work has always been attention to detail, good craftsmanship and dramatic, yet elegant, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her work can be found at several higher end shows throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. She has been an exhibiting artist at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair for the past 17 years and has taught wire work aboard a Celebrity cruise ship to Alaska. Both novice and skilled wire workers will benefit from techniques learned in one of Merilou’s classes.
Class Fee: $145.00Skill Level: Beginner
Fee includes a drusy cabochon to wrap, sterling silver wire, a jeweler’a polishing cloth, a fleece
work surface and a copy of Merilou’s 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions
with color step by step photographs in addition to the use of all tools in class to complete the
project.
You may have learned how to wrap a cabochon but now you can take it to the next level – you
can learn how to do free form sculpting with wire to create elegant and distinctive pieces of
jewelry. The final piece can be stand alone as a stunning pendant or you can go on to incorporate
it into a necklace for a truly spectacular effect. The results will always be different depending
upon the stone you use, the type of wire you use as well as the different sculptural effects you
can incorporate into your piece.
