Enhanced Basic PendantJuly 23, 9:00am - 12:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Wirework Class By Merilou JenkinsMerilou has been a practicing artist and teacher for over 40 years as well as a professional craftsman and jewelry designer who has been selected as an “Illustrious Artist” in addition to being the recipient of numerous awards at art shows and national competitions. Her work has been featured in professional catalogs, magazines and on the covers of national publications. She has a B.A. in Art, an M.A. in Art History as well as a Juris Doctorate. She has been a practicing attorney in the state of California as well as a lifetime state credentialed secondary art teacher. She is heavily involved in teaching others how to create beautiful jewelry as well as continually improving her own craft. Her current emphasis is on creating fused glass specializing in unique and elegant jewelry pieces, many of which are encased in 14K gold fill and/or sterling silver wire. The constant theme of her work has always been attention to detail, good craftsmanship and dramatic, yet elegant, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her work can be found at several higher end shows throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. She has been an exhibiting artist at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair for the past 17 years and has taught wire work aboard a Celebrity cruise ship to Alaska. Both novice and skilled wire workers will benefit from techniques learned in one of Merilou’s classes.

You will learn how to make a basic pendant using any size cabochon and then how to embellish it with a variety of beads. Once you learn this technique, you will be able to create a pendant using any size or shape of cabochon and you will be able to vary your design by adding or subtracting beads or crystals in a number of ways.
Learn about wire temper, wire gauges and wire shapes as well as all about the necessary tools. You will learn how to clean, measure and straighten the wire. You will learn how to bundle your wire, how to make a bail, how to embellish a basic design and how to make an attractive pendant. The class fee includes sterling silver wire, a custom made dichroic glass cabochon, beads, a jeweler’s polishing cloth, a fleece work surface and a copy of my 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions with color step by step photographs, all of which is yours to take home.
All tools will be provided for you to use in class. Class size is limited to 6 so register early!
