Basic Bangle BraceletJanuary 7, 2:00pm - 6:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Wirework Class By Merilou JenkinsMerilou has been a practicing artist and teacher for over 40 years as well as a professional craftsman and jewelry designer who has been selected as an “Illustrious Artist” in addition to being the recipient of numerous awards at art shows and national competitions. Her work has been featured in professional catalogs, magazines and on the covers of national publications. She has a B.A. in Art, an M.A. in Art History as well as a Juris Doctorate. She has been a practicing attorney in the state of California as well as a lifetime state credentialed secondary art teacher. She is heavily involved in teaching others how to create beautiful jewelry as well as continually improving her own craft. Her current emphasis is on creating fused glass specializing in unique and elegant jewelry pieces, many of which are encased in 14K gold fill and/or sterling silver wire. The constant theme of her work has always been attention to detail, good craftsmanship and dramatic, yet elegant, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her work can be found at several higher end shows throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. She has been an exhibiting artist at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair for the past 17 years and has taught wire work aboard a Celebrity cruise ship to Alaska. Both novice and skilled wire workers will benefit from techniques learned in one of Merilou’s classes.

Bracelets are a hot commodity right now and are currently my best seller. This is a basic class
that will teach you all of the necessary steps for creating a wire wrapped piece. In this class you
will learn about measuring and straightening the wire. You will also learn how to bundle all the
wires together and hold everything in place with strategically placed wraps, how to make the
clasp and how to determine bracelet sizes for small, medium and larger sized wrists.
Learn about wire temper, wire gauges and wire shapes as well as all about the necessary tools.
You will be working with both dead soft and half hard wire and will also learn how to twist the
wire. The class fee includes both sterling silver and 14KGF wire, a jeweler’s polishing cloth, a
fleece work surface and a copy of my 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions
with color step by step photographs, all of which is your to take home.
All tools will be provided for you to use in class. Class size is limited to 6 so register early!
