Ethnic Necklace Using Elements of Jewelry DesignJanuary 13, 2:00pm - 6:00pm (ALREADY PAST) Class By Merilou JenkinsMerilou has been a practicing artist and teacher for over 40 years as well as a professional craftsman and jewelry designer who has been selected as an “Illustrious Artist” in addition to being the recipient of numerous awards at art shows and national competitions. Her work has been featured in professional catalogs, magazines and on the covers of national publications. She has a B.A. in Art, an M.A. in Art History as well as a Juris Doctorate. She has been a practicing attorney in the state of California as well as a lifetime state credentialed secondary art teacher. She is heavily involved in teaching others how to create beautiful jewelry as well as continually improving her own craft. Her current emphasis is on creating fused glass specializing in unique and elegant jewelry pieces, many of which are encased in 14K gold fill and/or sterling silver wire. The constant theme of her work has always been attention to detail, good craftsmanship and dramatic, yet elegant, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her work can be found at several higher end shows throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. She has been an exhibiting artist at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair for the past 17 years and has taught wire work aboard a Celebrity cruise ship to Alaska. Both novice and skilled wire workers will benefit from techniques learned in one of Merilou’s classes.
