Cleopatra Necklace

Surprise everyone by using common safety pins to create this exotic, patterned collar necklace! You'll learn to design your own pattern and choose from a wide variety of bead colors to make a unique necklace unlike any other! In this class, you'll also learn to use crimp beads and attach clasps. You'll take home a beautiful necklace and printed instructions to refer to for all your future projects. About Susan Ryza

Susan Ryza designs & fabricates hand-crafted jewelry using a variety of materials, including wire, cord, gemstones, Swarovski crystal, plate metal, chain, fabric & ribbon. As a jewelry teacher as well as a designer, she loves learning & incorporating new techniques & methods ? among them chain maille, bead weaving, wirework & bead stringing. She has a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and an MS in Education from Long Island University. Since 2000, she teaches jewelry-making & fiber crafts at Santa Monica College, various local Santa Monica schools & stores, & at her home studio. Having a textile design background, she especially enjoys adapting fiber techniques for jewelry ? using macram?, crochet, spool knitting, netting, weaving, knotting & braiding. In addition to teaching, Susan worked with weavers in the Peace Corps in El Salvador and owned a wholesale millinery and handcraft import business for 15 years.
