Working knowledge of Peyote and Herringbone is appreciated, but I can help even the most beginner beader to create this fun technique.
Remember the “Pet Rock”? The student will use a combination of Peyote and Herringbone to create their own Pet Starfish out of four colors of seed beads. I will have kits available but I also provide over 50 tubes of size 11\0 seed beads to make their own choice. There is also a vast collection of little and small crystals and “tiny tims” from which to pick and choose to personalize their creation. Please bring the following: bead mat, task lamp and extension cord, “readers” to help you see the bead holes. Learn two Kumihimo techniques in one class! Learn how to create a braided cord and how to add beads to your braided cord! In this class you’ll complete 2 Kumi Style bracelets. Kumihimo is an ancient form of Japanese braiding, but there are a vast number of designs that one can create with a foam Kumihimo disk, the right cords and beads. We’ll start with cord before attempting to use beads, to allow you to learn the basics of the Kumihimo braiding basic and master the braided sequencing. Next, let’s get fancy by adding beads to create a 2nd bracelet as you learn to Kumihimo with beads, too.

Except for soldering metal, I am offering to repair those pieces, for a price, so they will become your treasured "go to" pieces once more. Price will be determined by the amount of work that needs to be accomplished. "Knotting" is also offered but will be picked up while the show is happening or I will ship it back to you for minimum USPS cost after the show. All metals used in making the repairs will be high quality base metals unless higher quality items (ie. gold filled, sterling silver) are supplied by the customer.

Learn how to make a stunningly simple and attractive prong setting for a flat-backed stone! Under the guidance of an experienced and patient teacher, you will learn every step needed from designing the prongs layout to adding a bail to the finished pendant—no experience necessary! Skills you will learn in this class include filing, shaping, soldering, polishing, and setting the stone. This three-hour class will open your eyes to the beauties of prong set cabochons for your collection. Class fee is $95. All supplies, including your choice of cabochon from a broad selection, will be included in the kit fee of $65. Yes, you can make rings! In this class, you will be guided through the process of determining the length of metal needed to produce a particular ring size including for a ring that will be textured after soldering. Using various styles of silver wire, you will create three different rings in the same size, to be worn as a set. As time allows, you will add a small cabochon in a pre-made setting to one of the rings. All steps will be carefully demonstrated and explained by an experienced and patient teacher. Skills covered in this class include cutting wire to length, using a hammer to texture the metal, filing edges, soldering, setting a cabochon, and finally polishing and finishing. Cabochon availability and pricing will vary—or you can provide your own calibrated 5 mm stone. Cost of the kit with all the components will be $45 in addition to the class fee of $95. When you leave class, you will not only have successfully made your first rings—but you will also take with you a comprehensive handout, with fully illustrated step-by-step instructions to help you get started in your home studio. Want to know how to set stones or cabochons? This is a great beginner class on how to solder pre-made bezels and to set the stones and CZs with Tube settings. We will be soldering the bezels onto a pre-cut shape of Sterling Silver metal. Your own design is at play on what you want your pendant to look like with several things to choose from. Once we have our pieces all soldered, we will be learning how to set the stones and what to look for to make them last! We will be focused on how to set stones in this class, but no Soldering skills are needed. I will give you a quick walk through on soldering. For more in-depth knowledge in soldering check out my Simply Soldering Class from 10:00am to 12:00pm. All tools and materials for the class are included. Keum-boo is a simple but precise process and the instructor for this class will walk you carefully and thoroughly through the process step-by-step, as we all create earrings that are your interpretation of those shown in the illustration. Each step will be carefully demonstrated and explained, but you will be able to bring your own design ideas to the project. Skills covered in this class include depletion gilding, cutting and placing foil, fusing, and patinating the metal, and finally polishing and finishing.
