Learn to create this gorgeous layered pendant in the Introduction to Soldering class! Silver soldering is a multi-step process that involves solder, flux, and pickle. It can be intimidating, but this class will walk you carefully and thoroughly through the process step-by-step as we all create the pendant shown in the illustration. Skills covered in this class include cutting a shape, using a hammer to texture the metal, filing edges, sweat soldering, and setting the cabochon, and finally polishing and finishing. Cabochon and bead availability will vary—or you can provide your own. Cost of the kit with all the silver components will be $75 excluding the cabochon and optional bead. When you leave class, you will not only have successfully soldered your first piece of wearable art—but you will also take with you a comprehensive handout, with fully illustrated step-by-step instructions to help you get started in your home studio. NOTE: We provide all the tools and equipment for use in the class (but you will also get a useful list of Tools Needed that you may want to add to your toolbox back at your studio).
