DSLR cameras with interchangeable lenses (18-55mm "kit" zoom is
acceptable) and manual exposure are recommended. A macro lens for the DSLR is helpful for small glass and jewelry items. Point-and-shoot or fixed lens cameras without these features are inadequate, will not perform as needed for creating professional work and are not recommended. Students should bring 16-20+ art pieces to the class to photograph. Also bring notepad, pen or pencil.
