Workshop List

Description: Everyone has that bag of meaningful heirloom jewelry from a grandmother or relative that you cherish dearly, but whose contents are unwearable in their current form. In this workshop, I ask you to bring in 1-2 pieces from that bag- broken or unused necklaces, earrings, pins, money clips, belt buckles, even shoe clips. As a class we will share what these pieces mean to you, what specific part of the jewelry “speaks” to you as worth highlighting, and together we design and create a new piece that you will actually wear- and most importantly, one that still honors the meaning of its past, and yours. As each attendee will receive their own 5-piece jewelry tool kit, you will be snipping wires/strings, beading headpins, opening/closing jump rings/attaching to chains, wire wrapping, and other basic jewelry techniques. Instructor will share, demonstrate and describe several pieces of jewelry from ilak designs.
